RECOMMENDATION:

recommendation

To authorize the Chief Executive Officer to amend Woodward-APC’s contract for a not-to-exceed amount of $344,896.87 to pay for the cost of Rail work at Canal Street station.

end

ISSUE/BACKGROUND:

body

The half-grand union was removed from the original scope of work, reducing the initial contract value with Woodward-APC by $3.0 million dollars.  This was due to a shift in the agency priorities and operational direction.  As a result of the removal of the original scope, the plaza needed to be redesigned to accommodate less rail, increased hardscaping, and landscaping.

end

DISCUSSION:

The redesign included the installation of 78 ft. of rail work, painting 12 OCS poles, installation of hardscaping and landscaping.  This work will be completed within the current time without any extensions.  Some of the materials required to execute this scope are long lead items and will take up to 14 weeks to receive.

 FINANCIAL IMPACT:

Total cost for this work is expected not-to-exceed $344,896.87 and will be funded through Grant LA 950006.12.34.05.

NEXT STEPS:

Upon Board approval, staff will amend Woodward-APC’s contract to include the revised work in their contract.

During the performance of this contract, staff will conduct ongoing dialogue to the Board during the project development.
