ISSUE/BACKGROUND:

The RTA has been awarded funds to purchase Ticket Vending Machines (TVM) for the Agency; this procurement seeks to utilize those funds to acquire three TVM machines. The agency currently has older Genfare TVMs that are now past their useful life. The three new machines will match the specs of the machines that will be used at the ferry terminals. The agency will strategically place these machines in key locations to enhance the rider experience.

DISCUSSION:
Ticket Vending Machines (TVM) are self-service machines that offer a flexible ticket purchasing experience. These new machines will accept various forms of payments from traditional cash, credit cards, and modern fare options. Offering modern fare collection technology in strategic locations will help the RTA enhance the overall rider experience. Genfare Vendstar-4 will seamlessly integrate with our existing fare collection infrastructure and provide continuity with TVM machines that will be used on the ferry system.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The estimated cost of the machines is $198,315. Funding is available through grant LA900391.1120.114320.
NEXT STEPS:
Upon RTA Board approval, staff will assign a purchase order.
