Authorize the Chief Executive Officer to award a contract to Voestalphine Railway for the replacement of switch/tongue points on the Canal Streetcar line.

ISSUE/BACKGROUND:

The switch points/tongues currently in service on the Canal Streetcar line have exceeded their useful life cycle of over 20 years and need to be replaced.

DISCUSSION:
The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) is requesting $325,394.00 to fund the replacement of switch tongues on the Canal Streetcar line. These switch tongues are to replace switch tongues that have surpassed the Federal Transit Authority (FTA) minimum required years of use and will be replaced. Voestalphine Railway was the lowest bidder while out for solicitation. Switch points are pieces of movable rail that traverse in order for cars to switch tracks or directions.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Funding is available through grant funding (LA 2021-028.8640.124206), total estimated cost of this vehicle is $325,394.00 which will be funded by the grant mentioned above.
NEXT STEPS:
When approved to proceed, a purchase order will be issued, and the team will purchase the needed parts.
