To authorize the Chief Executive Officer to award contracts to Convergint for purchasing a security system for the Canal Ferry Terminal.

ISSUE/BACKGROUND:

During the design of the Canal Street Ferry Terminal, a decision was made that the security system would not be part of the general contractor’s contract and that the RTA would self-perform this scope of work. The construction is almost complete. There is a need for a security camera, monitoring system, and card access entry points at this new facility. The agency is seeking to procure new hardware and equipment for the terminal.

DISCUSSION:
This hardware installation will provide thirty-five (35) cameras and six (6) security card access using at the Canal Terminal and Ferry Landing. These systems integrate into existing software and allow monitoring from all RTA facilities. This procurement will utilize an existing State contract number 4400023987 for Convergint.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The funding is currently available through federal funding (LA2016-011) of $128,332 and local funding (13330099.7660.161) of $40,415 for a total cost of $168,757.05.
NEXT STEPS:
Upon RTA Board approval, a purchase order will be assigned to complete the project.
