RECOMMENDATION:

Authorize the Chief Executive Officer to approve a contract to the successful bidder Heritage Crystal Clean, LLC regarding IFB No. 2021-015 and continue removing Primary Hazardous Material/Waste following all applicable state, federal laws, and regulations governing the safe clean-up (remediation), storage, collection, identification, handling, packaging, documentation, transport, transfer, and disposal of hazardous waste in the amount of $ 1.2 million contract for three years.

ISSUE/BACKGROUND:

The Regional Transit Authority (RTA) requested proposals from qualified contractors to provide hazardous waste disposal services, including identification, labeling, collection, transportation, and disposal of hazardous wastes in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.

DISCUSSION:

Heritage Crystal Clean, LLC is the successful bidder to properly manage and remove hazardous waste generated as a part of routine fleet maintenance that requires special handling (included but not limited to used oils & filters, used antifreeze, used parts-cleaning solvents, oil-dry material, lead-acid batteries, used painting supplies, used drums, etc.) the contract will service all RTA real property location(s) Canal, Carrollton, & East New Orleans. 

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

This multi-year contract/purchase order will be in the amount of $1.2 million based on Hazardous Waste Disposal Services IFB Number 2021-015 Heritage Crystal Clean, LLC bid. Funding made available through account 1284399.7150.166.

NEXT STEPS:

Upon Board approval, Infrastructure Department and Procurement will issue a contract/purchase order to Heritage Crystal Clean the successful bidder.
