ISSUE/BACKGROUND:

Periodically, our fixed-route bus and paratransit service necessitate on-the-road repairs and maintenance. To facilitate this, our agency employs specialized service trucks equipped with essential tools including oil pumps, fuel reservoirs, air compressors, and storage for tools. At present, our agency relies on a single maintenance service truck for bus road repairs. Regrettably, this truck has surpassed its service life and now requires replacement.
Our paratransit division currently lacks a dedicated service truck and instead utilizes a standard truck in its efforts to provide on-road vehicle servicing.

DISCUSSION:
The agency requires the acquisition of two service trucks: one intended as a replacement for the bus maintenance truck, and the other designated for the paratransit/non-revenue shop. These trucks will be equipped with oil and fuel tanks, in addition to air compressors, enabling efficient on-road repair capabilities. Moreover, these vehicles will be furnished with safety-enhancing caution lights, promoting enhanced visibility.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Funding for these trucks is available through FTA grants LA2021-031.1113.114211, LA2023-001.1113.124211, LA2021-024.1113.114211C, LA2022-022.1113.114211in the amount of $477,520.00.
NEXT STEPS:
Once approved a purchase order will be prepared to procure the trucks.
